Dear student,

Welcome to this edition of the Career Newsletter! The third quartile is very much ongoing and we have a lot of exciting new activities lined up for you in the coming months. Hope to see you soon!

Lunch Lecture Google

Wondering how you get into Google? This talk is about the interview process at Google, and how to prepare for it. The host is Sander Alewijnse, who started his job as software engineer at Google London 7 years ago after graduating from the TU Eindhoven and being active at GEWIS. Besides his main job working on various software projects (Android, the Google Play store, Google Fit and Fitbit) he has led plenty of coding interviews and knows all the ins and outs about applying at Google, which this talk will focus on. You can subscribe for the lecture here!

ASML Excursion Day

Participate in live interactive sessions, watch exclusive videos to explore ASML and its technology, and chat with ASML engineers, all while relaxing in a comfortable chair at home. ASML organizes ‘excursions’ for Applied Mathematics, Computer Science and Data students in their third year and above. Because all on-campus events are canceled, this year we’re hosting online events to introduce ASML to students. Please note that this is not a recruitment event but a way for students to get to know ASML. You can subscribe for the event here!

Wervingsdagen Career Expo

Wervingsdagen their BIGGEST-event; the Career Expo 2021, will take place on the 9th and 10th of March 2021. This year is a special year, as this will be the first online edition of the Career Expo of Wervingsdagen! The Career Expo is a company fair of the TU/e, free for students, representing many companies from many different fields, that can answer your most burning questions about your career path. How you can sign up for the special activities and the platform of the Career Expo, will become clear through social media and wervingsdagen.nl/careerexpo!

Thesis: How to Master your MSc Thesis

Maybe you’ve been given the common advice to write the introduction section of your thesis last. If you follow that advice, you’ll likely be writing your introduction and discussion/conclusion sections around the same time, and you might find you feel like you are just writing an overview of your research twice under different headings. So how do you know what to put in the introduction, and what to put in the discussion/conclusion? SkillsLab will be offering you a workshop via Microsoft Teams to prepare you just for these topics! Make sure to subscribe here!

Upcoming Lunch Lectures

GEWIS organizes weekly lunch lectures on Tuesday and sometimes on Thursday. In the overview below, you can see which companies are coming to present their topics and projects. You can subscribe for the lecture by clicking on the company logo. Note that the lectures can still continue with a maximum capacity on campus, but everyone can attend online!
